Grey oak slatted media wall with a large television and floor-standing speakers in a Storrington living room

Horsham media walls, built around the screen

Our showroom in Storrington is about half an hour south of Horsham on the A24. For a media wall we can start at your house instead, because the room, the light and where you sit matter as much as the screen.

Victorian streets and newer estates

Horsham is a market town on the upper Arun, with the Causeway and the Carfax at its centre. New Town and the East Side have Victorian and Edwardian houses, while the Needles, Holbrook and North Heath were built up through the second half of the 20th century.

In an older house the living room usually has a chimney breast, and the choice is between working around it and building a new wall in front. A large screen on a stud wall needs a reinforced section built in to carry it. We look at the wall itself before we draw anything.

The joinery, the screen, the sound and the lighting are designed together. LG OLED evo screens with Sonos speakers are the pairing we fit most often, and we are just as happy to install equipment you already own.

Full-height grey oak acoustic slats around a 77-inch television, Storrington Soundbar fitted close to the grey oak slats, with the cabling hidden in the wall, Storrington

A recent media wall in Storrington, built from the studs up

This one is in Storrington, where our showroom is. The owners had a 77-inch television and a high-end sound system, and wanted something more considered than a screen on a bracket.

We built a new stud wall from scratch, with a heavily reinforced section to carry the weight of the screen for the long term, and finished the whole wall in grey oak acoustic slats. The slats add warmth and texture and soften sound reflections in the room.

Every cable runs inside the wall, with access points built in so a later upgrade does not mean opening it up. The Sonos soundbar, floor-standing speakers and equipment rack were the client’s own, and we measured the wall around them so they sit as part of it.

How a Horsham media wall comes together

  • A look at the room

We meet you in Horsham or at the showroom and talk through the room, where you sit, how the light falls and what you watch and listen to.

  • Drawn to scale

A measured survey and scaled drawings show the screen size and height, the speaker positions and every cable route, along with any cabinets, shelves or electric fire.

  • Built, fitted and set up

Cable routes and power are prepared in the wall first. Our team then fits the joinery and equipment, sets the picture up for the room and tunes the sound before handing it over.

Our media walls, TV and audio page shows the screens, speakers and fires we fit. For the rest of the house, see our pages on kitchens in Horsham and bathrooms for Horsham homes, or every town we cover on our West Sussex page.

Plan a media wall for your Horsham home

Tell us about the room and the screen, and send a photo of the wall if you can. Book a design consultation and we will arrange a visit in Horsham, or call in at the showroom on a weekday if you are passing.
