Painted green in-frame kitchen with a black hob and stone worktops, Steyning

Shoreham kitchens, planned up the Adur valley

Our showroom in Storrington is about 25 minutes from Shoreham, up the A283 through Bramber and Steyning. The road follows the river most of the way, and we drive it in the other direction to measure up.

Older houses, salt air and narrow rooms

Shoreham is a port town where the Adur meets the sea. The centre still follows the street grid laid out in the early 12th century around St Mary de Haura, Old Shoreham keeps St Nicolas’ Church by the river, and across the water Shoreham Beach is a shingle spit of mostly modern houses, with houseboats along the mud flats.

That mix shows up in the kitchens we are asked about. A terraced house near the High Street may have a narrow kitchen at the back with one window, while a newer house on the Beach can have a long open room facing the light. Close to the sea, worktops, hinges and handles need to be chosen with the salt air in mind.

If the kitchen you have is well made, we will tell you, and look at keeping it. Where it has had its day, we draw a new one to scale in 3D for the room you actually have.

Hand-painted green in-frame cabinets with a cream canopy over the cooker, Steyning Tall painted housing built for a new oven to match the original units, Steyning

A recent kitchen in Steyning, a few miles up the river

In Steyning, a short drive up the A283 from Shoreham, the owners wanted to keep the character of their in-frame kitchen and bring it up to date in a colour of their own choosing.

We kept and adapted the original units and made new doors to match the old ones where they were needed. A new oven needed a home, so we built a tall housing for it and finished it to match the rest of the cabinetry.

Every door and cabinet was then painted by hand, and stone worktops and a toughened glass splashback finished the room. If your Shoreham kitchen is solid but tired, this is the route to ask us about.

Working on a Shoreham kitchen

  • Measured at your house

We come to you in Shoreham, measure properly and look at the walls, floors and pipework before anything is drawn.

  • Keep, adapt or replace

We look at what can stay, from the carcasses to the layout, and design new doors, worktops or a whole new kitchen around the answer.

  • Fitted by our own team

Our team fits the kitchen and any adapted units. If you have a fitter you trust, we can supply the kitchen for them instead.

Read how a home design visit works. Along the coast, see our page for Lancing, and up the valley our pages for Steyning and Upper Beeding. We also fit bathrooms and build media walls, and every town we cover is on our West Sussex page.

Bring your Shoreham kitchen to us

A few photos of the room and a door from an existing unit help us judge what can be kept. Walk in on a weekday or book a design consultation, and we will arrange a time to measure up in Shoreham.
