A new wall clad in grey oak slats, holding a large screen between speakers, Storrington

Shoreham media walls, built from new

Our Storrington showroom is about 25 minutes from Shoreham up the A283. When a living room has no chimney breast or alcoves to work with, we can build a new wall to hold the screen.

Where films were once made on the beach

In 1912 the Sunny South Film Company made its first film on Shoreham Beach and built a studio there. The beach is now a shingle spit of mostly newer homes, while the town across the river keeps its old grid of streets around St Mary de Haura.

Newer houses and flats often have plain plasterboard walls with nothing behind them strong enough for a large screen. Rather than hanging a heavy TV on a thin wall, we can build a new stud wall in front, with a reinforced section to carry it and space inside for every cable.

That new wall can then be finished in acoustic slats, painted panels or cabinets, with speakers and an electric fire planned in from the first drawing.

Large television on a grey oak slatted wall with tall speakers either side, Storrington Soundbar just below the screen on the slatted wall, with no cables showing, Storrington

A recent media wall we designed and built in Storrington

This Storrington living room needed a wall strong enough for a 77-inch television and the home cinema the owners already had. A bracket on the old wall was never going to look right.

So we framed a new stud wall from scratch, reinforced where the screen hangs, and clad it from end to end in grey oak acoustic slats. The slats warm up the room and cut down on reflected sound.

Cables run inside the new wall, with access points left in for when the equipment changes. The speakers, soundbar and rack were the owners’ own, so the wall was set out to their measurements.
