Bespoke Grey Oak Media Wall & Home Cinema Integration

Project Overview

This Storrington living room called for a media wall that could do two things at once: anchor the room visually, and quietly house a 77-inch television alongside a genuinely high-end sound system. Rather than simply mounting the television to a wall, the brief was to build something structural, considered and finished to a standard that matched the quality of the equipment it would hold.

Design & Build

Housing AV equipment of this calibre is as much an engineering exercise as a design one.

• Reinforced stud wall. A bespoke stud wall was built from scratch, with a heavily reinforced section engineered specifically to carry the weight of the television securely, for the long term.

• Grey oak acoustic slat panelling. The full wall was finished in grey oak acoustic panelling, adding depth, warmth and texture, while also improving the room's acoustics by softening sound reflections.

• Considered cable management. Every cable is routed and hidden within the wall itself, with access points designed in from the start, so future upgrades or servicing never mean pulling the wall apart.

Seamless Integration

The client's own equipment, a Sonos soundbar, floor-standing speakers and a dedicated equipment rack, was integrated so it reads as part of the architecture, not an addition to it. Every measurement was taken with this existing setup in mind, so the finished wall fits it precisely.

A Note on This Project

The AV equipment and the striking geometric rug shown here were supplied by the client. Our work was the design and build of the media wall itself.
